The provisions of the ludustrial Schools Amendment Act were brought into force iv Wolliugfcon for the first time to-day. The Act empowers the police to bring any uncontrollable child before the Magistrate to be committed to au Industrial School. The present case was that of a girl aged fourteen aud a-half years, who had ruu away from home thrice. The mother stated that the girl was beyond her control. The girl was committed to St. Joseph's Orphanage.
