MACMAHON'S DRAMATIC COMPANY.
"The Kelly dang."
The interest in the forthcoming production at the Town Hall on Monday night next of " The Kelly Gang," by the 28 members of MacMahon's popular Dramatic Company, points to a " record" house. It has been a decided money-maker' wherever produced by the Company. In speaking of a recent performance of the piece in Auckland, where it ran for 11 consecutive nights the yew Zealand Herald said : " The production on Saturday was announced as an entirely new version of "The Kelly Gang " and the alteration certainly add to its attractiveness as a stage production, both in the humorous and scenic effects. The Kellys were notorious horse thieves, and a warrant was issued for their arrest. Constable Fitzpatrick, who has wronged Kate Kelly, is given the warrant to execute, and his conduct leads to his being shot by Ned Kelly. The gang then take to the hush. The acting was sufficiently near to the known facts to create an intense interest among the huge audience, which vented itself in the wildest demonstrations of approval. The scenery was typical of the great Australian bush, some of the settings being beautiful and realistic to a degreeespecially the one depicting the sticking-up of the mail coach, where eight horses are introduced. Seats may be reserved at Miss Eive's.
