L. A. Cuff, the ex-New Zealand cricketer, now hon. secretary of the North Tasmanian Golf Union, recently proved his prowess at the links by winning the championship of that union. The " Pneumatic " is the latest ball to bo placed on the market by the inventive Americans. It has a compressed air centre, and it is claimed that it resists the most desperate " top." The newest " cored " ball is reported from America. It consists of a case of rubber with rubber projections 1-8 inch Worsted is wound round tho level of the projections, and then a gutta cover is put on under great pressure, the idea being that tho resiliency of the rubber will be preserved in the points showing through worsted.
