GREYTOWN NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

There appears to be a fair demand for freehold properties in Greytown. Several have changed bauds quite recently, and fresh enquiries are being made for suitable residential properties.

A most unfortunate accident occurred just three minutes before the finish of the Greytown-Masterton match last Saturday afternoon, when Mr E. Dockery (Ponto), who was filling a vacancy in the Grey; town team, splintered the point of his shoulder-blade, and will be disabled fo| some considerable time to come. He ia under the care of Dr. McCarthy. It is to be hoped the footballers will do something for him in the shape of a benefit.

In my recent notes, 1 pointed out the progress Martinborough was making. This has proved itself, when three of the prominent banking firms have opened up branches in the township. The Union Bank, Bank of New Zealand, and Bank of Australasia are after tbe business.

The programme of the South Wairarapa Mounted Rifles contain somo twenty events, and a good day's sport will be likely to result. A jferge gathering is expected. -
