U.S. DRY LAWS
(Per Press Association—Copyright. NEW YORK. Dec. 27. Commenting on the deaths from alcoholic poisoning during the Christmas holidays, Dr. Charles T. Orris (chief medical examiner at Brooklyn Hospital) charged the Government with moral responsibility, because this liquor was purposely poisoned to ren der it impossible to drink, while the Government, at the same time, knew that bootleggers constantly distilled poison out of it. Dr. Orris added: “The bootleggers are rushed to death, and do not have sufficient time for the poison to steep out. The Government well knows that it is not stopping drinking by placing poison in alcohol.”
