(Per Press Association—Copyright) NEW YORK, December 19. At Philadelphia, Tilden played in his old time form in the last tournament before leaving for .Europe to seek lost laurels. In the first round of the Indoor Invitation Tournament last night, he defeated Neil Sullivan (Lehigh Univercity) 6-3, 6-0. Paired with Wilbur Coem, of Kansas City, he defeated Donald Strachan and Horace Orser, both of Princeton University, 61, 6-4.
