ON COMMERCIAL LINES.
SYDNEY CITY COUNCIL’S UNDERTAKINGS. Per Press Association —Copyright. Sydney, This Day. With a view to securing economy and better and more efficient control in busines undertakings run by the City Council, they are in future to be conducted strictly on commercial lines. A start has already been made with the electrical supply, by which it is hoped to transform the present substantial loss on the working into a profit, without increasing the cost of current. As an example of the expensiveness of the existing system, an Alderman declared that under public tender, instead of the present methods, the cost of cleaning the City could be reduced by £50,555 annually.
