The Chicago Labour iwar is assuming grave proportions. -Two men who were believed to be attempting to bomb a house in the process of construction by non-union labour, hurled a policeman through a window, resulting in his death. Three policemen were killed by labour forces in a fortnight. The City Court judge declared that a state of war exists in Chicago. Chief of Police Fiizmorris has ordered all policemen to shoot Labour gangsters on sight. ATTEMPT TO BLOW UP. HOBART, May 23. A climax to the industrial trouble with the timber workers, who went on strike at Geevston in the Huon district was reached when the unionists objected to loyalists’ admission to a picture show arid asked that they be rejected. The loyalists left and went to theii - boardinghouse followed by a crowd insulting and molesting them. The following night an attempt was made to blow up the boardinghouse, a charge of gelignite being exploded at the rear of the building. There were no casualties but considerable damage was caused.
