THE PRINCE OF WALES.
WILD MEN OF BORNEO. PRINCE’S WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. BLOW PIPE SHOOTING. Press Assn. —By Tel.—CopyrightLabuan, May 18. The Prince of Wales had rather a wonderful experience of the wild men of Borneo during his visit to Jesselton. Members of the native race were brought together from the jungle districts, forming a considerable gathering. A feature was the scurry racing, the principal whereof apparently wae that the first home gets the prize and no questions asked.
The winner was requested to pose for a portrait, but was deeply offended, asking in Malay, “Am I a woman that I am mocked at.”
At the Residency the Prince saw an exhibition of blow pipe shooting by Dyaks. The proclivity of these folk for the poisoned darts is so notorious that as a precautionary measure every competitor had to con sent to have his arm scratched with his own darts before he was admitted to the grounds.
