■ * . AUCTION SALE. SUBURBAN LAND AT SEAVIEW. Guinness and LeCren, Ltd., report that they only sold one section (Lot 6) under the hammer, the price realised being £65 per acre. After the auction buying was freer and Lots 7,9, 10 and 11 were sold before close of business on Saturday, while the auctioneers hold several offers for other lots, and cue lot has changed hands twice. When the public realise how low the reserves arc the other sections will doubtless sell rapidly, for this is without doubt the cheapest suburban land that has been sold for years. It is the intention of some of the buyers to apply for town water supply, as this can probably he obtained at .small expense. Alarked maps showing the reserves on unsold lots arc now on view on board outside auctioneers’ office. These are the original reserves and it is not the owner’s intention to reduce his prices. The unsold lots will shortly be withdrawn from sale, as higher values will probably be obtained later. The public will find that cheaper land cannot be bought within same radius from town, and the exceptional advantages that Seaview offers would justify higher prices than the reserves shown. There was a; very large attendance at the auction, but the public seem disinclined to speculate., and this is no doubt caused by ‘the feeling of uncertainty ruling at present. This class of land, howoveii is scarce, and such blocks are certain to come into big value when the present depression passes!
