A masked armed burglar entered a hotel in the city after closing hours anc: demanded the keys of the safe from the barman. The intruder was overpowered by the night watchman and disarmed. He was allowed to depart by the licensee who was unaware of the facts.

A THIEF CATCHER CAUGHT. ADELAIDE, Juno 14. A sergeant and two constables entered a draper’s shop for the purpose of securing the door which had been loft open at night. After they came on: a box of ties dropped on tho pavement. The sergeant accused one of the constables of stealing it but the constable asserted he had kicked against them in the footpath. An investigation led to the constable being dismissed..
