Fisher, Federal Prime Minister, is jubilant over the reception of the proposed maternity allowance which was arranged at the caucus. The Rill will he introduced early. About £OOO,-000 is required annually if all the mothers apply. The New South Wales Government is simultaneously considering a scheme to invite the co-operation of friendly societies in making a grant,to raotheiu before and after the birth of the child, ■ n order to cover living expanses.
