Sir Henry CsmpbelUßannerman, in a speech at the Fishmongers' Society's annual diiner, emphasised that it was the desire of the Government that there should be conciliation and harmony in South Africa ; that there should be justice aod equality for all whites there ; and certainly tbat British eopremrcf there should be maintained.

He hoped, he said, that the settlement tbat had beec made at Algeciras would lead to the diminution of the frightful military burdens of the nations.
