August 13. There is no alluvial gold being got at the rush at Summers' Creek. August 14. Major Blackall, the new Governor, landed officially at ten o'clock this morning, and was received by the members of the Ministry. He proceeded at once to Government House, where the ceremony o f reading his commission was performed in presence of a large audience. The oaths of office were administered by their Honors the Judges of the Supreme Court, who were in attendance for that purpose. The Legislative Assembly met yesterday, and some interest wos manifested in the Ministerial statement consequent upon the vote of want of confidence carried in the previous week by a small majority. After the Speaker had taken the chair, the Premier rose and staled that the Ministry proposed holding office until the bill to amend the Electoral Act had become law, and the supplementary estimates had passed. If hon. members on the Opposition side refused to acede to this course, a dissolution would immediately ensue, and the Ministry would appeal to the country.
