VICTORIA.

The "Ago" of the 20th ult., reports .— -

The import markets still lack animation todaVt BuainpjM—tliei'ACruu" — «»n nf nn .n^j~«— ~— esrangcilSracter. Brcaastufts do not as yet evince an improved tone, buyers still holding back in the hope of forcing prices lower, in which object, however, it aeems scarcely likely that they will succeed. Victorian wheat offers in small parcels only ; 4s lOd was paid to-day for a good sample. Feeding grains are very much neglected ; good maize cannot be quoted as worth over 3s 2d, and best samples of oats are valued at 2s lOd to 3s, though sales of indifferent lots come before us at less money. Teas continue to be moved off on an extensive scale ; 350 half-cließts and 50 chests were quitted on private terms, and a lot of fine medium congous, in cheats aud halves found a buyer at Is lOd, in bond ; sales of trade lots were likewise effected at full figures. Woolpacks met with attention in parcels of moderate size, at 4s 3d for Calcutta, and 4s 6d for Dundeos, business having taken place to-day at those rates. Sugars are not largely sold ; we hear, however, of ordinary grainy counters having realised L 33 10s to L 34 10s. Malt, in trade parcels, has been quitted at 9s for fine samples, though sales are likewise reported indicating tho price named to bo slightly above the market. A line of seven or eight tons chicory was placed at threepence in bond. Corusacks have /been said at 12s, and bran bags at 10s per dozen. Sixty boxes Fairmont tens tobacco were quitted on terms not made public. In liquids, we note sales of Hennessy's case brandy, at 25b fid ; 500 cases JDKZ geneva, at 9s 4£d fov the low duty ; Dunphy's stout at 9s ; Machen's at 9s 3d ; and Mackie and Gladstone's pints at 6s 9d. Oilmen's Btoros met with purchasers to a moderate extent ; amongst the sales mentioned were pints castor oil at 8s 9d ; plaid vestas at Bs. The auctiou sales to-morrow should prove interesting, the offerings comprising 4500 cases kerosene, all more or less damaged by sea water, and to be sold without reserve, the cargo of Patnarice ex Tamby Candassamy, and oilmen's stores, candles, sugars, Ac.

Tho Eva Joshua has been ordered on to Sydney, holders looking for a considerable advance on present rates.
