RANGIWAEA-BELLS JUNCTION SPORTS CLUB Satisfaction with the success which attended the last sports meeting conducted by the Rangiwaea-Beils Junction Sports Club was expressed at the annual meeting of the club held on Thursday evening when the president, Mr S. Livingston, presided over an enthusiastic attendance. Mr Livingston was re-elected president. Last year’s committee was also re-elected. Mr L. W. Bell was appointed secretary. The following were appointed to take charge of the various events:—Horse events, Mr A. E. Samways; chopping, Mr L. Cummings; children’s events, Mr W. Bell; athletic events, Mr Dick Bell. It was decided that the annual sports gathering would be held on Saturday, January 27, and the programme was arranged. PERSONAL. Mr Peter Newling, of Taihape, attended a Veterinary Club meeting, followed by a dinner in Palmerston North recently. Mr Ray Vernon, of Marton, has been appointed assistant borough foreman. Mr and Mrs Savery are visiting Wellington. Mr and Mrs H. McLachlan and family are on a visit to Paraparaumu. Mr nd Mrs W. Hudson are spending the Christmas vacation in Hamilton. Mr and Mrs J. Thorburn are visiting Wanganui. Mr and Mrs D. C. McKee and family are visiting Tauranga. PRESS TABLE AT GRANDSTAND. Following a request from Taihape’s two Press representatives, the Taihape Borough Council has decided to provide a table at the grandstand for the convenience of the Press. A motion to this effect was moved by Cr. F. J. Ireland, seconded by Cr. R. J. Wilkinson and carried. The table is to be placed in the front row of the stand between the tennis court end and the stairs nearest that end.
