TIMARU, Last Night (PA).—A resolution, saying that the railway strike was called after negotiations had been settled satisfactorily, but the Government’s refusal to ratify the agreement on wage rates, brought a situation for which direct action was the only possible answer, was carried unanimously at a meeting of the Timaiu branch of the A.S.R.S. and R.T.A. yesterday. The resolution also expressed the regret of members that trouble and inconvenience had been caused to the public.
The meeting also expressed Us layally t 0 the decisions made by the national executives of the two unions.
