N.Z. Tennis Star, Robson, Wins Match In Australia
SIDNEY, Dec 25 (Recd 6 pm).—ln his first Australian game of the tour the New Zealand No 1 tennis star, j. Robson, beat Neville Snelgrove in the; county of Cumberland championships I 6-0, 6-4. i Commenting on the match Adrian: Quist says the New Zealander showed | remarkable control in adverse condi-, tions and used a top-spinning American twist service to advantage. He adds: “Undoubtedly the New Zealanders will add to the already attractive galaxy of stars who will be appearing in the Australian championships- and it is quite possible either Robson or McKenzie may cause an upset in our major tournament.” He recalls that at the Queen's Club in 1948, McKenzie held two match balls against R. Falkenberg, who went on to take the Wimbledon singles title from Bromwich.
