CAROL SERVICE HELD IN OPERA HOUSE; ADVERSE WEATHER

Because of adverse weather the “Carols by Candelight’’ service, which was to have been held on Cook’s Gardens, had to be held in the Opera House on Sunday night. Considering the night there was a good attendance.

The feature artist was the young baritone John Young, of Sydney, and formerly of Wanganui. Assisting artists were Messrs. J. D. Tizard, and George Broome. A combined band and choir was ably conducted by Mr R. L. Francis, L.R.S.M. During the performance there Were two minor power interruptions. These did not interfere with the performance, but the 2XA broadcast was interrupted for a short period,—five minutes.
