TOTE TURN-OVER AT AWAPUNI £3540 GREATER
The totalisator turn-over for the first day of the Manawatu Racing Club's summer meeting at Awapuni on Saturday was £3540 greater than on the first day last year. Including the double, the totalisator handled £105,388, compared with £101,848 last year. Of the five meetings which began on Saturday, the Awapuni one is the only one from which comparisons may be drawn, the Taranaki Jockey Club holding its first day on Boxing Day last year, and th/ South Canterbury Racing Club, Gore Trotting Club and Cambridge Trotting Club having no corresponding meetings last year. The turn-over at New Plymouth on Boxing Day last year was £5612 higher than the total, including the doubles investments, on Saturday. The totals were £59,565 and £53,953 respectively.
At Timaru Saturday’s turn-over was £30,684, at Gore £37,536, and at Cambridge £36,607. The total turnover for the five meetings was £264,168.
