CHRISTMAS CELEBRATED IN CHURCHES
Music by specially augumented choirs was a feature of Church services held in Wanganui on Christmas Day. Both in Christ Church, and at St. Peter's Gonville several services were held yesterday, and were well attended.
Yesterday morning a combined service was held in St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church.
Midnight Mass was celebrated in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in the presence of a congregation totalling more than 1000. Because of rain on Sunday night, the carol service, which was to have been held on Cook’s Gardens, was held in the Opera House and was well attended despite the adverse weather.
