SMALL GIRL FATALLY BURNED WHILE SITTING IN A TRUCK
NELSON, Yesterday (PA).—Burns from which she later died were suffered yesterday afternoon by a girl whose clothing caught fire while she was sitting alone in the cab of a truck outside the Nelson railway station. The child was: Beverley Una Fear?, aged two years seven months, daughter of Mr and Mrs W. H. Feary, Maitland Avenue, Stoke. At about 2.30 the child was left In the truck, which was parked in Gloucester Street? while her uncle, Mr Basil L. Gribble, delivered cases of tomatoes to the station. How the fire started is not known, but the child’s clothing was blazing when her screams attracted the attention of a passing truck driver, Mr. K. W. Exton. Mr. Exton used a sack to smother the flames, but by that time the girl had oeen extensively burned on the body and arms. She died in hospital last evening.
