AUCKLAND ATHLETES UNAWARE OF THE TRANSPORT PLANS
AUCKLAND, J>.st Night (PA).— Auckland athletes and swimmers, who have been invited to compete in events of the Canterbury Centennial Games which begin in Christchurch next Tuesday, are still uncertain of their means of transport. Failing information from the organisation controlling the games, several athletes have made their own arrangements for transport to Christchurch. The Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletr Association tonight decided to bring officially to the notice of the New Zealand Council the wholly unsatisfactory arrangements made for the transport of the Auckland athletes to the games, and the lack of consideration which generally had been shown them. It was stated that the seven or eight Auckland athletes who had been invited to the games had encountered extreme difficulties in their negotiations witii the Canterbury Games authorities.
