Competitions Society Elects Officers

At the annual meeanp last night of the Wanganui Competitions Society, the following officers were nominated and elected: President, Mr E. Lind; vice-presidents, Messrs G. E. Tarrant and D. G. Strachan; executive, Mesdam.es H. Gilberd, O. Tarrant, J. Chesswas, D. G. Strachan and J. Shanks, Miss E. Warnocx and Miss N. Jones, Messrs A. Tong, W. G. Seabrook, J. A. Shanks, J. Carr and L. M. Hallas. Appointment of a permanent secretary was left to the incoming executive with a recommendation that the offices of*secretary and treasurer be held by two different people because of the amount of work involved during the festival. Accounts showed that the society had handled revenue of more than £7OO in the year and had finished with a credit balance of just on £5O. Christmas Day Flights. Tasman Empire Airways catering staff has already prepared an elaborate luncheon menu for its passengers on Christmas Day flights. It will consist of oyster cocktail, asparagus soun, fried flounder, fried chicken with creamed sweet corn, peas, savoury tomato and potatoes, plum | pudding with brandy sauce and mince pies and ice cream.
