The death has occurred of Mr William W. Tonkin, editor of the Dannevirke Evening News for the past 17 years. He was associated with the paper for 38 years. Mr. John Rogers, of London, has been appointed of the board of Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd, to succeed Lord McGowan, who has accepted the position of honorary president of the company. The Rev. Father M. B. O'Keefe, a member of the Redemptionist Order, Melbourne, arrived in Wellington, by flying-boat from Sydney yesterday. He is to join the staff of St. Gerard's, Hawker Street, Wellington. Mr. J. M. Allison has been elected president of the Wellington Stock Exchange in succession to Mr. P. W. Blundell, who has occupied the position for the past two years. Mr. W. R. C. Oswin was elected vice-presid-ent. A group of four architects to plan, design and supervise the building of the new obstetrical and gynaecological hospital at Green Lane, Auckland, has been appointed by the Auckland Hospital Board. They are Messrs R. A. Thorpe, C. G. Cutter and R. A. Pickmere, of Auckland; and Mr K. W Douglas, of Wellington. The men wore chosen from 14 applicants interviewed by a special sub-committee. Commander P. Phipps, DSC, RVD, RNZN, commanding officer of HMNZS Tamaki, the naval training establishment at Motnih?
