No Wage Increases “We read of increases in prices all the time, but wages seem to remain static,” said Mr L. Murphy, secretary of the Auckland Carpenters’ Union, in the Arbitration Court at. Auckland. Mr Justice Tyndall: “Would you tell me of any wage in the country which has remained static in the last year or two, except mine?” (Laughter.) Mr Murphy: "Mme, sir.” His Honour: "Well, I have yet to find a union which pays its secretary overtime.” Mr Murphy: "I would not like to enter into a discussion on it, sir.”
