Mr Justice Hay is presiding at the quarterly session of the Supreme Court, which opened in Wanganui yesterday.

Mr. H. E. Dollery, who has been appointed coach to the Wellington Cricket Association, arrived from England during the week-end. Mr. Robert C. Horley, advance representative for the Bodenweiser Ballet, which is to play in Wanganui later this month, is a visitor to Wanganui.

Greenaway, an Apostolic Church minister, of Wellington, has returned from Wales where he spent two years organising courses at the International Bible College at Penygroes. Mr. Harold Hitehon was elected president at the annual meeting of the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association last night. He has been a member of the executive for 22 years. Born in England, he served in the First World Wai- and came to New Zealand in 1921. Mr. W. Sawyer, recently-appointed lecturer in mathematics at Canterbury University College, arrived in Auckland on the Tamaroa. He was formerly in charge of the mathematics department of the University College, Gold Coast, near Accra. Mr. George Maitland Gw’ynne, chief postmaster at Masterton, died on Saturday. Born in 1896, he started his career in the Post Office at Kaponga when he was 15 years of age. He was recently promotel to chief postmaster at Timaru, but because of his health, was unable to take up the position.
