CHAMBER NOT TO SUPPORT “FILM OF GREYHOUND BUSES”
The Wanganui Chamber of Commerce decided last night not to support the proposed film of Wanganui by Television Films Ltd. Mr N. M. Izard said that a committee had examined the scheme submitted by the firm and had decided that the film was not warranted. The cost was too high at 12000.
“The committee went through the script and it appeared not to be a film of Wanganui but an advertisement for Greyhound Buses Ltd., and the people connected with them.” Mr Izard said that there was good material for a film in Wanganui, particularly historically, but the chamber should not sponsor anything that was straight out advertising. The chamber agreed.
