Brilliant Youngster Reappears At Avondale
AUCKLAND, Last Night (Special). —The record of Mainbrace at two years indicates that this galloper will probably do well again this spring, and he is to have his first race tomorrow in the sprint at Avondale. His form at two years was rather extraordinary, not in its results? —he was third at his first start when very green and then won each of his next six outings—but in the manner ot their accomplishment. Unlike Gold Script, a great two-year-old, who won many races by spreadeagling his fields, Mainbrace had seve’ / "lives” in the way of winning close finishes, for while he got home first as required he participated in some very close finishes. That he could still win and worry other horses out of it rather suggests that the colt has this racing business down to a fine art.
