Decrease In Export Butter From The Auckland District

AUCKLAND, Last Night (PA).— Butter produced in the Auckland province and handled for export by the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Co. Lid. during the year ended June 30 totalled 4,530,474 boxes, a decline of 72,257 boxes or 1.57 per cent from the 1948-49 figure. The killings of livestock at the company’s works during the year increased by 12,128 head to 1,669,293 head. Both lamb and sheep killings were lower than those of last year, but contrary to the Dominion trend, beef killings increased. The slaughterings of bobby calvese were also higher. Cheese received by the company increased by 16.290 crates or 7.07 per cent to 245,499 crates, which is the highest amount since the 1946-47 year.
