Indian Women’s Hockey Team To Tour Britain
LONDON, Sept. 1 (Recd. 6 p.m.)— An Indian women’s hockey team is Io play a series of matches in Britain next year. This will be the first tour of this country of Indian women hockey players, though Indian men’s teams have played in this country on several occasions with notable success. In 1953 a world women’s hockey tournament is to be held in Britain and the British Women's Hockey Association is already raising funds to finance it. At least £25,000 will be needed. Women’s hockey is one of the sports in which there has been no suggestion of British weakness. Three years . when a British women’s hockey team visited United States, they won all 18 of their matches. This year the Brtish Women's team which has been visiting South Africa has played 18 matches, won 16 lost one and drawn one. They scored a total of 70 goals to 17 against
