Victories At Brussels Put New Heart Into British Athletes
LLONDON, Sept. 1 (Recd. 6pm).— Britain’s eight victories in the European Games at Brussels have put fresh heart into British a'thletics.
Sports writers who attended the Games agree that the British team performed splendidly, and that despite some odd squabbles about judging, there was a much better general spirit prevailing than has been evident in other post-war , athletic gatherings on he Continent.
British athletes, who mixed with Russians competing at Brussels, found that the members of the Soviet team agreed that the Soviet will send a team to the next Olympiad at Helsinki. They also suggested that Russia might apply for an Olympiad in Moscow or Leningrad at some future date.—Special NZPA Corresepondent.
