PILOT GOES SOLO AFTER TWO AND A HALF HOURS’ DUAL

To make his first solo flight in a Tiger Moth after only two and a-half hours’ dual instruction was the record of Mr. M. Morrison, a Waverley farmer, who was sent solo at the Wan ganui Airport yesterday morning by Mr. K. E. Fenwick, instructor for the Wanganui Aero Club.

Mr. Morrison’s effort is a new record for the club since it recommenced flymg after the war. The previous record was just under three hours, a school teacher and a farmer being the joint holders of the honour. The average amount of dual which pupils receive before going solo is between four and four ana a-half hours.
