GREYHOUND BUSES WILL START ON MONDAY
Greyhound Buses, Ltd., will take over the Aramoho, Wanganui East and St. John’s Hill passenger services on Monday with a staff of 13 drivers, one inspector and 10 buses, including eight new vehicles and two of (he City Council fleet. In meantime the Corporation Tramways Department will continue services to Gonville a.nd Castlecliff, but it is expected that by early In October the new company will be operating all suburban services. The last tram will run on the Wanganui East route on Sunday night. For some weeks, however, the council has been running buses entirely to Aramoho. On May 22 trams ceased running between Calver’s Corner and two months later were completely withdrawn from this route. When the company takes over the Aramoho, Wanganui East and St. John’s Hill services on Monday a new timetable will come into force. It provides for more buses during peak periods and fewer during the lean periods of the day. Adult concession cards and school concession cards issued by the Tramways Department for these three routes will not be available for buses when the company takes over. Refunds, however, will be made by the council on unpunched portions of the cards.
