Bombing And Strafing Attacks On Terrorists

SINGAPORE, Aug. 5 (Recd. 6 pm). —Heavy bombing and strafing attacks are being carried out against terrorists in Malaya. The weight of the offensive was felt most in Southern Malaya, where air strikes took place almost daily. July was memorable for its night bombing attacks. Some 880,000 leaflets, mostly urging the bandits to surrender, were dropped. The terrorists, frustrated by security forces from attacking road transport, are now stepping up actlvitiy against railways. Three attacks on the Singapore-Kualalumpur mail train have been made on successive nights, and seven occurred in a fortnight. In each case armed guards on the trains replied to the terrdrists' fire* driving them into the jungle. Seccurity forces killed four terrorists yesterday in clashes in Perak and Pahang.—Reuter.
