Anti-Terrorist Action In Malaya
SINGAPORE, Aug. 6 (Recd. 6pm). —Dhring the last six months security forces in Johore State fought 60 patrol actions with Communist terrorists, killing 81, wounding 47, and capturing 14. All the terrorists killed were Chinese.
A police official stated 42 regular and auxiliary police were killed in action in Johore in the same period. Johore terrorists killed 69 civilians in 100 raids upon rubber estates, mines and convoys.
Johore State is now the scene ot intensive anti-terrorist operations, under the direction of Lieut.-General Sir Harold Briggs. Army and police columns are slowly and surely rooting out terrorists from jungle hideouts. The Gurkha Rifles, Ist Suffolks, Cameronians and 13th and 18th Hussars are the forces primarily engaged.
