American Mustangs Deal Crippling Blow To N. Korean Air Force
TOKIO, Aug 6 '(Recd 11 pm).—The sth Air Force headquarters said that American Mustang pilots dealt a crippling blow to the North Korean air force yesterday, destroying nine fighters and damaging five. The planes, mostly Yaks, were caught on the ground at Kimpo airfield, near Seoul.
The combined air forces flew a total of 438 sorties. The pilots' claims included two tanks destroyed and three damaged. Two American pilots were killed when their Mustangs were hit by ground fire In low level Army support strikes.
