HOMAGE PAID TO STALIN
Great Virtues Attributed To Him By Communists LONDON, Dec. 22 (Recd. 6 p.m.)— Reuter’s Moscow correspondent says for three hours and 15, minutes delegates from the Russian Republics, the Communist Governments in vassal States, and from Communist parties abroad, read out birthday greetings to Stalin at a festive mass meeting in Moscow last night. It was the culmination of a buildup which started several days ago in the Soviet Press and on the radio. Scientists and Ministers, marshals, and generals, factory workers and agricultural labourers were, in turn, given the microphone of the Moscow radio system to glorify Stalin. "Stalin, the great leader Stalin, the wise Stalin, the infallible Stalin, the genius, and Stalin, the greatest strategist of all time"—there were only a few of the virtues attributed to him.
