GERMANY TO SIGN INTERNATIONAL TREATY WITH U.S.
LONDON, Dec. 15 (Recd. 6pm).— The West German Government will today sign its first international treaty —that with the United States providing for Western Germany’s full participation in the European Recovery Programme. The American High Commissioner, Mr John McCloy, will initial the treaty on behalf of the United States and Dr. Adenaur on behalf of the West German Government.
Under the treaty West Germany guarantees the effective use of all its resources to attain the industrial and agricultural targets set by the Organisation for European Economic Cooperation. It also undertakes to provide aid for the Western sectors of Berlin. Should such aid not be given in the required measure the United States reserves the right to intervene.
