“Made In Japan” To Be Insisted Upon
WELLINGTON, Last Night (P.A.) ■—The Prime Minister, Mr. Holland, said today that he approved in principle of the idea of having goods imported from Japan, marked as to their origin. ‘'There is a great deal to be said for allowing people to know where the goods they buy are made, but the" matter has not yet been considered by the Government,” he said. Mr. Holland had been asked comment on a report that the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association was concerned abotit the importation of Japanese goods not bearing a stamp of | origin. Mr. Holland commented that the standard of manufacture in New Zealand had now reached such a quality that manufacturers took pride in having their goods marked as New Zealand made.
