Tax Removal Awaits Legislative Action
WELLINGTON, Last Night (PA).— There is no possibility of removing sales tax from domestic work-saving, appliances before Christmas, said the Prime Minister (Mr. Holland) tonight. He had stated earlier this week that the sales tax would be removed from such appliances. He had stressed that legislative action would probably be necessary.
Retailers now holding heavy stocks need not fear precipitate action; due notice would be given before the sales tax was removed from goods in this category, said Mr. Holland. “Changes for the benefit, of the people, due to a change of Government will be introduced carefully, Mr Holland added.
