Growing Number Of Roman Catholics
LONDON, Dec. 11.—The number of Roman Catholics in England and Wales increased by 105,349 in the past year to a total of 2,754,249, according to an estimate in the 1950 English Catholic Directory. The assistant editor of the work says conversions and children's baptisms totalled 103,000. The rest of the increase, with deaths taken into consideration, can be partly attributed to the influx of Catholic workers. The directory gives the total number of Catholics in English-speaking countries as 64,104,110, an increase of about 600,000.
