U.S. Civil War Veteran Dies At 102
NEW YORK, Dec. 11.—John Dumser, aged 102, a Union Army Civil War veteran, has died at Oakland, California. His death leaves 11 members of the Grand Army of the Republic alive in the United States. Dumser claimed that he heard General Sherman give his classic definition as his armies burned and destroyed through the southern States: “War is hell.”
