WILL MAKE FOR HARMONY, SAYS MR. HOLLAND
WELLINGTON, Dec. 11, (PA).— Australia and New Zealand would now have Governments with close similarity of outlook, and that should make for most harmonious relations between the two countries and Governments, stated. Mr. Holland, the New Zealand Prime Minister Elect., commenting tonight on the results of the Australian elections. Mr. Holland said that when he was in Australia this year, he and Mr. Menzies discussed the possibility of a change of Government in each country. i "We resolved that in the event of a double-change of Government the two countries would operate in the closest harmony with a view to the development of our mutual interests in the Pacific generally, and in trade in particular,” Mr. Holland added. Mr. Menzies and Mr. Fadden were his personal friends, Mr. Holland said. “All three of us,” said Mr. Holland, “are strong for the British Empire and for the recovery of its rightful place in world affairs. The coming Ceylon conference will be an early opportunity for exchanges on matters of interest between representatives of the United Kingdom and the new Governments in Australia and New Zealand.
The outgoing Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, had no comment to make on the Australian election results.
