WELFARE OF WORLD IS AIM OF MR. TRUMAN

WASHINGTON, Nov. 8 (Recd 10.20 pm).—The United States Democratic Party had two basic aims—the welfare of the United States and the welfare of the whole world, said President Truman in his address at the National Women’s Democratic Club dinner.

“What we want mere than anything else is peace in tnc world, and I am sure we are going to get that peace, he said. “There are enough good things in the world for every man and woman in the world to have a just share.”

Mr Truman expressed confidence that the world would work out the current difficulties and reach the ultimate goal of peace. A major step forward in the quest far peace was to carry out the programme of assistance to underdeveloped areas. Mr Truman pointed out that early development of the United States was financed largely by foreign capital. He added that immense stores of capital were available in the United States now for foreign development. He envisaged a world-wide economic revival, with river developments patterned after the Tennessee Valley Authority as a major factor. The Tigris and Euphrates river valleys could flower acam if properly developed,. supporting massive populations as they did in early historic times.
