PARCEL DELIVERY SERVICE. An ex-serviceman intends to start a parcel delivery service in Taihape towards the end of this month, and I with this object in view, arrangements have been made for the puri chase of a half-ton truck through the Rehabilitation Department. An application has been made for a licence to include a radius of six miles from Taihape so that parcels can be delivered at Utiku if necessary. Originally two men proposed to deliver the parcels by motor bikes with suitable attachments, but one of the sponsors of the scheme has withdrawn and the other has come to the conclusion that the service can be operated much more satisfactorily by means of a truck. Several business men have ind.cated their intention of taking advantage of the service when it is inaugurated. PERSONAL. Mr. lan McLennan celebrated his 21st. birthday on Saturday evening, a party being held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. P. Kearins, Taihape. Mrs Kearins congratulated lan on attaining his majority and presented him with the traditional key. Mrs. W. McLennan thanked Mrs. Kearins for her hospitality in connection with the celebrations.
