Central Body Wanted To Administer The N.Z. National Parks
WELLINGTON, Last Night (PA)— A deputation from the Federated Mountain Clubs, supported by the Forest and Bird Protection Society ot New Zealand, waited on the Minister of Lands, Mr Skinner, today to submit a proposal of the Federated Mountain Clubs for setting up a central national park authority to administer national parks in New Zealand. with provision for adequate finance.
The Federated Mountain Clubs were represented by Mr A. H. Harper, a past president, who is also president of the Forest and Bird Protection Society, Mr Noel Thompson, a past president, and the Forest and Bird Protection Society by Mr R. H. Carter, secretary.
The Minister gave the deputation a sympathetic hearing and indicated that early legislation in this direction was under consideration.
