Officers Elected For The Ensuing Year WELLINGTON Last Night (PA)— The 1950 New Zealand Brass Bands Association's Domin’on contest will be hfclc at Christchurch, according to the decision reached at the annual meeting of the association. A meeting ot Christcrurch citizens will probably be held to form a contest committee. Judging will be none by one judge instead of a panel of three judges as previously. In the event ol test solos not being available solos are to be limited to eight minutes. Hymn tests are to b» divided into grades in future contests. It was decided also to adopt the British system of replacement under which a band requiring a replacement wil. be allowed to p'ay only a corresponding player from the band playing immediately before it. If the band requiring a replacement draws first place them it can take a replacement only from the band drawing last place. The meeting supported a Masterton resolution that in future allocation of hotels for accommodation of bandsmen be by ballot. Election of officers resulted: President,Mr. J. P. O. Skoglund (Wellington); North Island vice-presidents, Messrs. P. W. L. Brady and J. C. King (Wellington); South Island vicepresidents, Messrs. L. C. Travers and G. H. Bailey (Christchurch); management committee (North Island), Messrs. R. E. Belgrave (Palmerston North), E. Ormrod (Wellington) and R. Howarth (Auckland), (South Island), Messrs R. Simpson and W. G. Stevenson (Christchurch) and A. G. Homer (Dunedin).
The resignation of Mr. J. G. Osborne from the secretaryship was received with regret and he was made a life member. He will continue his association in an advisory capacity.
