AUCKLAND, Last Night (PA)—The! fifth Auckland wool sale was held to- i day at the Auckland Town Hall with an offering of 16,234 bales of new season’s greasy wool and 9460 bales of stock pile greasy, wool and a small quantity of slipe wool, states an official report. There was a clearance of 9S per cent, to commercial buyers. The offering of new seasons greasy wool w’as not a truly representative catalogue as had been offered at preceding sales in this centre. Apart from a few lots the wools were off in colour, shabby and of inferior type. There was also a large percentage of oddments- as is customary at this sale. A large quantity of lambs’ wool was also offered and realised relatively good prices. There wa§ a full bench of buyers representative of all tne buying countries, Bradford and the Continent both being prominent in the market. Local mills purchased wools suitable for their requirements. As compared with preceding sales in the south the market can be quoted for fine crossbred wools at par to a shade easier, but for medium and coarse crossbred wools firm on soufrv ern rates.
