Associated Churches Of Christ Conferring In Gisborne
GISBORNE, Last Night (PA).— Delegates from all parts of the Dominion are attending a conference of the Associated .Churches of Christ of New Zealand in Gisborne. They were given a civic welcome by the Mayor, Mr. N. H. Bull. Mr. E. P. Aderman, M.P. for New Plymouth, conducted a devotional service and the very Rev. Dr. Hutchinson Cockburn gave the assembly a report on the Amsterdam conference of World Churches. Mr. R. G. Dick, Wellington, is presiding over the conference, which will continue till Monday. “We cannot be blinded to the fact th;i there are many materialistic forces spreading dark shadows over millions of people,” said. Mr. Aderman.
“The principle of freedom from fear enunciated in the Atlantic Charter has not so far been established, as fear is widespread. We must substitute for this fear the precepts of life that give faith and courage and confidence.”
